Fresh Start Foods is currently seeking a full time Director of Purchasing to join our team in our Milton, Ontario location
Reporting to the Vice President of Fresh Start Foods, the Director of Purchasing has overall responsibility for leading all purchasing related activity within the company. The Director of Purchasing is responsible for developing and executing the overall freight and purchasing strategy, ensuring that quality, food safety and GMP’s are achieved and maintained by our suppliers in addition to developing employees skills and abilities and leadership development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall growth of existing business within established customer base
- Working with the National Buyer to execute purchasing strategies
- Negotiate local vendor contracts
- Responsible for direct load and food terminal purchases
- Oversee inventory processes
- Produce weekly pricing
- Monitor and report on market trends and updates
- Visit supply chain (growers, farmers, distributors) as required
- Oversee the setting of purchasing budget goals and objectives
- Ensure that all budget targets are met or exceeded
- Participate in the overall development of the annual operating plan (AOP) and the Long Range Plan (LRP)
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Post-Secondary Education preferred (College Diploma or University Degree) with an emphasis / specialization in Purchasing/ Marketing, Sales or Business Administration
- Specific produce experience or certification
- 7–10 years of relevant purchasing experience(preferably in a produce, food processing, or distribution / logistics environment)
- Proven track record of leading growth initiatives and expanding business
- Excellent customer service skills with all levels of customers
- Excellent leadership, organizational, multi-tasking and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen, budgeting, strategic planning
- Strong PC skills, proficiency with Google and Office software
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- A broad knowledge of the technical aspects involved in managing employees in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment that continues to grow
- Travel as required

SPLIT CASE SELECTORS - OVERNIGHT (Milton Facility)

Description of Role:

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurate completion of documentation when required – blade sheet
- Works in a safe manner and follows all safety procedures
- Set up and operate machines – slicers, dicers, peelers
- Perform testing procedures to ensure machines are working optimally
- Plant floor person responsible for functions related to processing – washing food products
- Able to read the recipes (weight, cut size, volume)
- Monitor and troubleshoot basic machine problems and quality issues

- Previous manufacturing experience in food processing facility

Inventory Analyst - FULL TIME

We are currently seeking a full time Inventory Analyst to join our team, based out of our Milton, Ontario head office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Post invoices daily, identify and resolve any variances.
- Communicate inventory issues to buyers and branch managers.
- Coordinate the taking of cycle count, and physical inventory (bi-weekly/monthly).
- Reconcile inventories prior to closing the books to ensure that inventory values are accurate.
- Process waste reports and ensure warehouse transfers and inter-co billing completed on time.
- Monitor internal control and risk assurance activities and ensures compliance with general accounting principles and company procedures.
- Take the lead in identifying slow moving and obsolete inventory and reserves. Communicate these findings with finance manager and purchasing director.
- Set up regular reviews and recommend product rationalization of current sku's
- Identify trends and makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities.
- Manage master data in ERP system – this includes setting up new items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- College diploma in Accounting or Finance
- Heightened analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel skills (i.e. pivot tables, Vlookups).
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Superior verbal and written communication skills combined with the ability to effectively debrief senior management.
- Detailed oriented and strong multi-tasking and time management skills combined with initiative and flexibility.
- Ability to manage time effectively and compile information in a timely fashion.
- Proven ability to successfully establish and maintain supporting relationships with other departments.
- Facility to work independently and value being part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high volume and changing environment, paired with a "roll up the sleeves" attitude

Retail Account Manager- Sales

We are currently seeking a full time Retail Account Manager to join our team based out of our Milton, Ontario location calling on accounts such as Metro, Sobeys, Loblaws, Mass Merchandisers, Convenience & Gas and Drug
Description of Role:
As a part of the Fresh Start Sales Team your role will be to develop and service existing retail accounts in the Ontario marketplace with a major focus on new retail account acquisition. In addition to your account development work, you will also be responsible for contract compliance, sales growth, pricing and margin maintenance. You will be the liaison between your customers and the internal departments and divisions within Fresh Start Foods Canada.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work to the two prong strategy of bringing in new accounts and penetrating existing accounts with the existing portfolio and new product development
- Build relationships with our customers at both the unit and head office levels
- Develop and execute a retail sales strategy both short and long term to maximize retail sales and be aligned with Fresh Start Foods business objectives
- Facilitate and coordinate annual sales budget forecast by customer
- Achieve and exceed financial targets of volume and profitability
- Facilitate customer business reviews
- Understand account profitability and how to set objectives to improve
- Work on a variety of customer opportunities such as new product development, promotional activity and general inventory management
- Assist Credit Department with customer account payable issues as required
- Other responsibilities as required
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- 2-5+ years of prior sales experience in a similar role working with perishable products
- Strong product and transportation knowledge, including an understanding of the fresh produce industry
- Post-secondary education in Business or Marketing would be an asset
- Excellent follow up and attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication skills Must have proven ability for developing new business
- Strong leadership skills including working with a variety of people at all levels of business
- A self starter that can work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPointMust have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
